MEET ANTON

Anton Allahar is an esteemed Board Member of Start the Ripple, with a distinguished career as a retired Professor of Sociology at The University of Western Ontario, Canada. Born in Trinidad, West Indies, Anton completed his Ph.D. in Political & Economic Sociology at the University of Toronto.

His academic expertise encompasses economic development, globalization and democracy, and ethnic and racial relations, with a focus on the Caribbean and Latin America. Anton has authored over ten books, edited numerous others, and delivered more than 200 papers at international conferences. He has also lectured at approximately 20 universities worldwide.

In recognition of his scholarly achievements and excellence in teaching, Anton was honored as a Faculty Scholar at The University of Western Ontario in July 2007. He served as President of the Caribbean Studies Association in 2007-08 and was awarded the association’s first Lifetime Achievement Award for his significant contributions to the field.
